We have a combined experience of more than sixty years as performers, directors and producers in the fields of touring theatre, comedy and music.
Warren Lakin
Warren was a local newspaper reporter for five years before he began his professional work in the world of arts and entertainment in 1978. Since then he has been a producer, promoter, manager, agent, fundraiser, tour booker, venue programmer, and occasional performer and compere. Warren was the partner of the late great comedian and broadcaster Linda Smith for twenty-three years. In 2010 he helped establish The Linda Smith Memorial Fund to benefit the charity Target Ovarian Cancer. In 2006 he co-edited an anthology of Linda's best material 'I Think The Nurses Are Stealing My Clothes' and in 2007 he wrote a memoir 'Driving Miss Smith'. Both books are published by Hodder and Stoughton.
Mike McCarthy
Mike originally trained as an actor and worked alongside the legendary Joan Littlewood at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East. He has appeared in and directed a string of touring theatre productions.
In the 1990's Mike completed an MA in European Cultural Planning and went on to set up a successful cultural regeneration company where he worked with Local Authorities throughout the country as a cultural consultant and producer of large scale cultural events and celebrations.
Establishing Lakin McCarthy with Warren sees Mike return to the world of entertainment and to his first love of directing and producing exciting new live work.
